Our phone and fax numbers are the same.

We offer the quality and price value of a broadline distributor, but our outstanding service really distinguishes us. We supply all varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables—domestic and international—and frozen, canned and specialty products from our facility just west of the Loop.

We understand the importance of accurate and timely deliveries and strive for perfection. Our full service customer support department, open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, is unique in the industry.



Facility

In early 2001, we moved to a newly renovated 44,500 square foot modern facility. This seven-year-old building has been described as "the premier food service distribution facility in the Chicago Metro area." Our location allows outstanding access to downtown and all Chicago suburbs. The facility features refrigerated and temperature controlled receiving and dispatch docks, zone controlled non-freon based refrigeration systems, high bay storage capacity and single floor operation.

Vehicles

We maintain a fleet of 39 vehicles including vans, straight trucks and tractor-trailer combinations. All vehicles are washed and sanitized weekly and all cargo bays are cleaned daily.

Temperature control

All vehicles are temperature-controlled and our drivers are trained to maintain correct temperatures. Some vehicles have two separate temperature-controlled compartments.

Affiliations

We are a member in good standing of PRO*ACT. This relationship allows us to provide nationwide service and special pricing promotions.

ASI food safety inspections

As part of our strict Quality Control Process, we contract with an independent third party, American Sanitation Institute (ASI) to oversee our processes and perform ongoing inspections. Recognized as a progressive leader in the food service inspection industry, ASI has a client base encompassing most major hotel, restaurant, and grocery and processing facilities.

Our most recent inspection was in February 2001. We received a rating of Excellent—the highest grade awarded by ASI.


Ordering

We receive orders via telephone, fax, and the Web. We recognize that occasionally you will need additions to existing orders and offer full service customer support 24-hours-a-day, 6-days-a-week.

Deliveries

We can meet daily inside delivery requirements and understand that emergency deliveries are sometimes required.


Processed items

Processed items are our specialty. In order to be able to meet your exact specifications, we source from many vendors. We can produce any specification with minimal notice.

Returns and credits

Because all of our drivers are authorized to grant immediate credit for shortages, breakage or damaged items, there is no waiting for credit memos or additional paperwork.

If a recall is ordered, a customer service representative will contact all affected locations and make arrangements for pick-up and credit. If a replacement product is available, we will substitute it ASAP.

Sourcing

In addition to the advantage of our convenient location, our relationships with more than 100 primary suppliers help our customers with unusual sourcing requirements. What you believe to be a hard-to-find product is often a standard item for us. We routinely source hard-to-find items and can work with you on procurement and/or warehousing.

Our location allows us to fill over 99 percent of items ordered. Our wide variety of relationships with suppliers gives us an edge in product fulfillment.

We are a true one-stop shopping location.

Tours and visits

We invite you to tour our warehouses or inspect the produce we supply and frequently host tours for managers, trainees and other interested parties.

Delivery window

We recognize your unique delivery requirements and have had long experience with many different operations. Whatever it takes, we will strive to meet your delivery window.

We maintain licensed trucks and have badged employees for airport operations. We currently comply with all required insurance regulations including O'Hare Airport ramp requirements.

Pricing and definition of cost

We are happy to provide you with a current price list. Produce is a commodity, however, so prices change frequently and will vary based on your specifications, delivery requirements and lead-time. Consult a sales representative for details.

Insurance

We carry all standard insurance policies including General Liability, Property, Inland marine, Crime, Boiler & Machinery, Commercial Liability, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella policies. In addition, we currently comply with all required insurance regulations including the special considerations for O'Hare Airport ramp requirements. A certificate of liability insurance can be issued from our broker.

Key personnel


Peter Testa is President of Testa Produce and actively oversees and operates the business. He also buys all of our direct produce from all major growing areas. He has over 25 years of experience in the produce business.
